Florida Maritime Museum
The Florida Maritime Museum, nestled in the historic fishing village of Cortez, was founded on the importance of the local, commercial fishing industry.
This nationally registered historic community has worked hard to preserve its unique Florida Gulf Coast Heritage and Old Florida charm.
Housed in the area's authentic 1912 schoolhouse, FMM tells a number of stories pertinent to Florida’s maritime heritage through a variety of engaging exhibits, public programming, and educational resources.
Each body of water in Florida has it’s own story to tell, as do the hardworking people who have built their lives on the shores of the Sunshine State. Come in and discover how water has shaped our past, and continues to shape our future!
